10 Years for the PPIHN Clinic
When PPIHN was started in 2012, a clinic building was a plan for the future. A place to store all of our equipment and supplies, a known location for patients to return to each trip, and a functional multi-purpose building that could enable our team to serve the many patients we see.
Fast forward a few years and through the amazing support of generous donors, we had enough funding for the clinic to be built. Our September 2016 trip was the first time we used the clinic, and it was not quite completed during our time there.
Through the years, it's had some repairs and rearranging, we streamlined our process with more equipment and setup of the clinic space, and our groundskeeper, Kalenga, has added plants and landscaping. Now, here we are 10 years later, and our amazing little clinic building needed some TLC. The clinic roof has had ongoing leak issues, and we
decided to get the roof replaced. Thank you to those who donated to this effort! The new clinic roof is complete (and a beautiful blue!).
This little clinic has held a decade of stories — donors who believed in PPIHN and this clinic before it even had a roof, first steps with new prostheses, reunions with familiar faces, first glances at a new prosthetic eye.
We’re excited for many more years to come at the PPIHN clinic!
Helping more patients
During PPIHN's April 2026 trip to Zambia, Katie visited the Holy Family Rehabilitation Center facility. PPIHN has worked with this organization since last year to establish a partnership to enable us to help more people by providing the necessary components for patients to receive a prosthesis without needing to pay. Affordability is a major hurdle for the vast number of people in rural Zambia who need a prosthesis.
Since our return from Zambia, Katie has been coordinating with this facility. An additional 28 patients, who we were unable to attend to in April due to time constraints, will be fit with a prosthesis from this facility with the components and supplies PPIHN is providing for each patient.
Katie is in regular communication with the clinician at Holy Family Center about each patient as they receive their prosthesis. We’re happy to share some delivery photos with you, sent from the Holy Family Center!
With our expansion, Prosthetic Promises is working to secure more donated prosthetic components and more funding to purchase needed supplies as we look forward to a continued partnership with the Holy Family Center.
